The next race we host is the ERSA Summer League on 8 July (the race is almost full, so register now). Then we have our own club race, the Hemel Champs, on 9 September.
Regular Monday training continues until 17 July when we stop for a summer break. Before that we have our Ski Mart & Summer Social on Monday 10 July. Thats an opportunity to bring along any equipment you want to sell (skis, boots, accessories etc) and/or pick up pre-loved kit. Its a great opportunity to recycle skis that have only been used a few times and its a great help for some parents when kitting out a fast-growing child. Just bring the items along to the Columbia Room and mark them with your name and a price.
All we ask is you donate a commission on the sale to our chosen charity, The Snow Sports Foundation http://www.snowsportsfoundation.org.uk/ we suggest 10% of the sale. We will collect the contribution in the evening and pass them on to the charity. We supported this worthwhile charity last year and were able to send them several hundred pounds to help them give skiing opportunities to people with various learning difficulties, additional needs, financial hardship or social circumstances.
The club took a step further this year as two visually impaired skiers joined the club and train with us on a Monday night whenever they can.
As ever, there is a social element to the Ski Mart & Summer Social. While browsing for skis, you can enjoy a glass of wine and a nibble or two and chat to other club members. I personally will come off the hill after coaching the U12s and look forward to enjoying convivial company.
Ski fast, ski safe.
