Hi ERSA Members, ERSA Racers and Parents,
I’m Stephen Metheringham and I have just been elected Chair of ERSA at the recent AGM. I would like to take this opportunity to share a little bit more about myself but will start with a few “thank you”s. Firstly I would like to thank Andrew Upton, Chris Shelley, Tim Bingham, Janet Jenkins and Bernie Wright for all their commitment and dedication over the years they have represented ERSA to help and support the region in its endeavours. I would also like to thank those who have taken a new role in the Committee to strengthen and support the Region. I must also thank everyone who volunteers to make ERSA the great region it is. There are too many to name and I wont embarrass those who continue to do so but they know who they are. Thank you and thank you from the racers and parents. Lastly, I would also like to thank our key sponsors Team Evolution and Ski Bartlett for their continued support both on and off the slopes. For those of you who dont me, I am “Zac’s Dad” and currently Chair at Ski MK Race Team and over the last 3 years have been active at Club, Regional and National level. Since my son Zac started alpine racing I have helped on the slope, currently progressing towards my SSE Level 2 Official accreditation, have become a dab hand at Ski prep and a keen skier (but not that good!) Professionally I am a Chartered Surveyor and Owner / Director of a Multi-Disciplined Consultancy covering a mixture a Project & Procurement Management and Property related Accountancy and Taxation, all of which require a multitude of skills which I can bring to the benefit of the committees I am active on. My thoughts and aims for the forthcoming year are to build on the great work ERSA already does, help to develop all areas of Snowsports in the region, whilst representing all the members at Region and National level. I can perceive the benefits of clubs attaining the Sport England “Club Mark” and am going to work with my own club to attain this so I can support other clubs in the region to become accredited. I would also like to lead the ERSA committee into a review of its current aims and objectives and update the four year ERSA Development Plan so we can link this with the Annual Regional Plans required by Snowsports England. Every time I visit ERSA region races, I am struck by the social aspect that binds racers and parents together, and want to help grow and develop this and foster relationships between clubs across the region. ERSA is a volunteer organisation and we are always welcome to new ideas, suggestions, offers of assistance, so please contact me / us.
