Last night we had the wonderfully skilled British Ski-X athlete Ed Drake, giving our racers the opportunity to try ski-x. Ed was an Olympic level alpine racer, but switched to ski-x two years ago and ever since has gone from strength to strength. Ed advocates ski-x as a way to build skills for all types of skiers including alpine racers. Building balance, movement skills, confidence and lots more, with this in mind we wanted to introduce the race club to the fun and virtues of ski-x. Last night was our first ski-x taster session, starting with the under 12’s. Up for the challenge they built up speed over the jump and tried to absorb it, while racing eachother, holding hands, trying to get closer to eachother and trying to go faster. Ed and all the coaches were extremely impressed with the amazing improvement and confidence that was appearing in no time! Well done to all of you for some impressive skiing tonight. Make sure you book on to next Mondays race training as it’s the older kids turn to try ski-x. Speak to any of the under 12’s from today and I’m sure you’ll agree it’ll be something to look forward to! For those of you who enjoyed tonight, Ed runs SXPC – Skier-X Performance Centre. Based at Hemel Snowcentre with sessions running fortnightly on Thursday’s…click here for more information: http://www.skixperformancecentre.com/
