This weekend the fourth race in the GBR outdoor series took place at Gloucester. A few Hemel members made the long trek to the the Welsh borders to take part. On Sunday SSE ran the Inter Regional team event. Disappointing entries for both events overall, ERSA had one team enter and join the other 11 teams.
The GBR event consisted of an U12 race through the stubbies and a U14+ race through full gates. The stubby course was set by Guy Hornsby from the Midlands ski club. Guy also set the first run of the main competition with 20 gates, Robin Kellen set run 2 with 21 gates, 20 turns. The results for the main competition are taken from the aggregate of both runs whereas for the U12s it is the best time only from the two runs.
In the U12 event Hemel had no entries.
The U14+ girls started the main competition, Charlotte TAPSELL was placed 2nd in the U14 girls and finished 14 overall. Nicole SHERING was 20th overall, a result she will discard from the overall rankings.
The boys/men’s event was a tough competition with many low pointed racers competing. Oliver WELLS continued his good form and finished a credible 8th place, 6th in the U21 in a tough age group. Toby CASE was 17th overall and 2nd in the U14 boys. A difficult transition from the U12, where Toby dominated last year. A big learning curve but progressing well.
The Inter Regional results will follow. The ERSA team had a number of Hemel members, the HAWKINS triplets, Charlotte TAPSELL and Oliver WELLS. Results on a following post.
